MAEscapes Project

Project Partners:       

Goal of project:

To create gardens at the Pleasant Acres complex that demonstrate sustainable ecological landscaping and best water management practices. 

Gardens will demonstrate:   

  1. Best management practices that reduce need for fertilizer and pesticide use

  2. Water conservation

  3. Use of native plants

  4. Backyard habitats

Our audience:

{     Master Gardeners – Train the Trainer

{     Green Industry employees

Demonstration gardens planned:

  1. Xeri-scape – demonstrating plants for hot, dry areas (ANNEX entrance)

  2. Rain-scapes – rain-gardens (East & West wings)

  3. Prairie-scape – native grasses (parking lot island)

  4. Storm-scape – stormwater buffer (parking lot)

  5. Slope-scape – steep slope (East-side bank)
