York County Envirothon

Nation’s Largest Environmental Education Competition

The Envirothon was created for senior high students by Pennsylvania’s Conservation Districts over 36 years ago. The York County Conservation District sponsors and coordinates the York County Envirothon, one of the nation’s most robust and renowned Envirothon programs.

The Envirothon works!

Many students participate for several years and continue on to pursue careers in conservation. We are striving to prepare tomorrow’s conservation leaders today!

Scholarships

Assisting Future Conservationists

We award two $1,000.00 Scholarships to any York County residents majoring in – or planning to major in – the field of conservation (agriculture, environmental, natural history, natural resource management or related science field).

Supporting students of York County.

Applicants must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited college or university.

PA Wildlife Journal Book Sales

PA Wildlife Journal by Kim Young and the York County Conservation District is a 300-page reference book focusing on Pennsylvania’s birds & mammals. The book is highlighted with professional artwork, photographs, and illustrations from hundreds of students from across Pennsylvania and the United States. The PA Wildlife Journal is designed to be enjoyed by both the student of wildlife and the casual reader.

The text includes the historical and current biology of the many species found in Pennsylvania. This book is designed as a study resource for elementary to middle school students, but can be enjoyed by readers of all ages.
